// MAX COOPER APRIL UPDATE
Followers of Max's facebook will know this already: his new Traum EP Egomodal is out today, and it's a huge amount of new Max music. From the juddering and enormous Raw to the more melodic and beautiful Autumn Haze, there's five originals, remixes from Ripperton, Marc Romboy and Rone, and a great new video for Micron by Dmitry Zakharov that premiered on XLR8R on Friday and features "human body parts that grow, multiply and fuse to the beat".
The EP draws on a range of experience from watching autumn mist through the studio window, to experiments with psychacoustics and and broken beats, and even Max playing, as he sometimes does, with effects on his own voice. It's now on vinyl and Beatport.
Max has also remixed Sonata by Cream Sound on St Petersberg's Festival Lounge label.
There's not been a newsletter in a while, so there's quite a few new Max interviews:
How Max puts together his live show (The Independent, UK)
How his remix of Hiatus's Third came about (Hed Kandi's website)
His January tour of Canada and the US (Glade Festival website)
and even a DJ mix with an interview in Dutch for DJ Broadcast magazine, Holland
and an interview in French for Sourdoreille blog about the London and Belfast music scenes.
[Thanks to DJ Broadcast and Sourdoreille for translating from the original English!]
There's also a great video interview for Igloofest, featuring Tiga, Sebastien Leger and Max speaking and playing to a mad crew of 10,000 people in -20 degree temperatures in Montreal, with a guest appearance by Canadian art-rock band BRAIDS (that's Katie and Raphaelle BRAIDS on either side of Max).
This year Max is already confirmed for Bestival and Glade in the UK, Amsterdam's Q-day and Free Your Mind Festivals, Astropolis France, and a return to one of the best underground festivals in the States ... but in April it's -
From Max: "I'll be closing the Origin stage at Glade this year - 17 June 2012, which I'm really looking forward to, so when they asked if I'd like to provide a podcast for the festival I jumped right on it. This podcast will be very different from my set on the day, that will include all my favourite stuff from over the years, while this set is more of a preview and demo of my recent productions. My latest Egomodal EP on Traum features heavily, along with some recent remixes of Agoria, FC Kahuna and Phil Kieran which I've been playing out a lot recently. I hope you enjoy it!"
